Slack: the tuix app in your channel

One card per report, run from Slack: assign, set the status, triage and reply.

You’ll need

  • Project admin in tuix
  • A Slack workspace where you can add apps
  • Team or Agency plan

Transcript

  1. With the tuix Slack app, each report gets one card in your channel, and you can run it from there.

1. Add tuix to Slack

  1. Open Project settings and find Slack updates. Only a project admin can connect it.
  2. Click Add to Slack.
  3. Slack asks where tuix should post. Pick the channel, then Allow.
  4. For a private channel, type /invite @tuix afterwards.
  5. Back in tuix, the panel names the channel.
  6. On paid Slack plans, the reports also go into a Slack List.

2. Bring in the open reports

  1. tuix says hello in the channel, and counts the reports that are already open.
  2. Type /tuix import to bring them in.
  3. Each report becomes one card, oldest first, with any earlier replies in its thread.

3. Take a report

  1. Each card has the controls: Assign to me, Assign to…, a Status menu, Triage…, and Unassign under the three dots.
  2. tuix matches you by your Slack email address, and tells you once which account you act as.
  3. Set the status right on the card. Every change uses your rights in tuix.
  4. Triage… does it all at once: the status, the assignee and a note to the reporter.
  5. Won’t fix and reopening a finished report need a note, so they go through the Triage form.

4. Talk in the thread

  1. The thread keeps the report’s story. Reply there, as anywhere in Slack.
  2. tuix records the reply as yours. A Slack mention of a teammate becomes a tuix mention.
  3. Tomek sees the reply in the widget, on the page where he left the note.
  4. Replies written in tuix go into the thread too, so the conversation stays in one place.
  5. Every update lands in the thread: assignments, a recorded fix, and when it’s ready to verify.
  6. When Tomek confirms the fix on the page, the card shows Done.

5. Your Home tab

  1. Open the tuix app in Slack. Home lists what is assigned to you, and the reports nobody has taken yet.
  2. Each one has the same controls as its card.

6. The Slack List

  1. The List has one row per card: the report, its status, the assignee, the assignee in Slack, and a link.
  2. Whoever connected Slack can add a board view by status. Edits made in the List don’t reach tuix.
  3. Teammates whose Slack email doesn’t match sign in once to link.
  4. Screenshots, diagnostics and report bodies stay in tuix.
